MANDUKA Announces First-Ever ‘Made for Yoga’ Apparel Line

MANDUKA Announces First-Ever ‘Made for Yoga’ Apparel Line. Manduka, creators of high performance yoga gear and the #1 choice of yoga teachers worldwide, revealed today that it will launch its first collection of men’s and women’s apparel designed for the practice on the mat, and in life.

Built on the values of the brand’s legendary Black PRO Mat, the ‘Made for Yoga’ activewear line was created with the highest standards in sustainability and brings innovative styles and features that support the body in motion. The line will be available through www.manduka.com, yoga studios and select national retailers starting in February 2016.

“Nearly two decades ago, Manduka launched with one mat that revolutionized the way teachers and students practice yoga,” said Sky Meltzer, CEO Manduka. “Our belief in the transformational power of the yoga practice is prevalent in our first, beloved black mat and has carried through our entire collection of yoga gear and now apparel. With this launch we take an important step forward in enhancing the experience of yoga on and off the mat.”

Inspired by yoga teachers, athletes and the principles of nature – the men’s and women’s apparel collection is soulfully engineered by yogis, featuring the most cutting edge design technology available in athletic wear and sustainable fabrications. Made from recycled polyester, organic cotton, hemp, Tencel & Modal and Sorona, each material is intentionally chosen for the practice of yoga, allowing for maximum comfort, fit and movement.

“The greatest innovation in athletic apparel today is the advancement of sustainability,” said Joanne Sessler, VP Product & Design. “The Manduka apparel collection is both intuitively and technically designed for the body in motion. We are featuring fabrics and enhancements that elevate the practice, from breathability to the right amount of stretch, allowing the body to fully reach its potential in yoga, without being hindered by unnecessary features. All of our material choices are inspired by the practice of yoga with sustainability at the forefront.”

The first ever Manduka women’s collection features a full line of performance and lifestyle apparel including pants, bras, camisoles and après yoga pieces specifically constructed to provide support and comfort during yoga practice. The colors are inspired by natural environments, from the high desert hues of spring, to the mid summer brilliance of the ocean’s water and coast. The styles are contemporary, express individuality and simplicity of design.

Manduka’s first men’s collection answers much needed demand in the fast growing men’s yoga community, unifying the familiar designs style of old school athletics with the comfort and function of surf inspired apparel. The tees, shorts, tanks, pants and hoodies are constructed to resolve reoccurring challenges and discomforts in athletic apparel worn on the mat, while maintaining the lifestyle appeal of street wear. Its color story is inspired by the way your favorite, ‘never to part with’ tees and shorts look at the end of summer, worn in and washed out by the sun.

Manduka’s distinctly ‘Made for Yoga’ line is the beginning of a new era in yoga apparel, presenting the marriage of high function and high purpose on the mat. The complete Spring Summer 2016 collection will launch to the yoga community and national retailers on February 2016 with 40 unique styles and multiple drop shipments throughout the year.
