They offer one of a kind designs by Maui Artist Jolica . The Lava Line was influenced by the Lava Flows of the Big Island of Hawaii. Jolica uses a variety of materials including Pearls, Murano Glass and Gemstones from around the world. Each piece is created using .950 Sterling Silver .
First daughter of a French mother and a Hawaiian father, Jolica Taguiped let her exotic roots lead her around the globe. Along the way, she became influenced by native artisans in Europe, Southeast Asia and the South Pacific. This led her to open The Silver Lining, a retail store on the Island of Maui where she imported and sold ethnographic treasures as well as her own creations. After eight years, Jolica decided it was time to focus on her work and she began designing jewelry full-time.
Today, Jolica designs three lines of jewelry for her new company, Something Charming: Lava, Nautilus and Mahjong. Every gemstone or piece of Murano glass used in the Lavaline is hand-picked and each piece is individually crafted using the lost wax process. The Sterling Silver used is always .950, giving it higher polish and shine then standard .925 silver.
The Nautilus line begins with hand-hammered sterling silver before shell, gemstone or coral are added to give each piece a distinct look. The Mahjong line starts with a treasure hunt to locate the old bone and bamboo tiles used in this ancient Chinese game. Jolica constantly alters her designs and materials in all three lines because, like she says, “change is what keeps jewelry making, and life, fun and exciting.”
